This position performs technical and highly detailed work in the preparation,
review, finalization and auditing of payroll and the administration of employee
benefits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Calculate, process and audit payroll and benefit transactions in the HRIS system including changes to salaries, benefits, direct deposits, garnishments, deferred compensation, taxes, and other deductions.
Provide day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs, including enrollment, changes and termination.
Audit and correct timesheets and attendance records in the HRIS system. Follow up on missing or incorrect timesheets.
Serve as the primary contact for employees with payroll and benefits-related questions.
Set up and maintain benefit tables in HRIS system.
Ensure accurate and timely processing of new hires, terminations, life change events and changes to pay rates.
Prepare payroll tax deposits.
Prepare pay records for posting to the general ledger, reconcile payroll records to the general ledger and prepare payroll journal vouchers.
Reconcile monthly insurance invoices to payroll records and the general ledger. Calculate and enter adjustments as needed.
Prepare off-cycle payroll checks for terminations.
Present on behalf of the Payroll & Benefits team at New Employee Orientation. Prepare presentation materials, as needed.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of employee hours, wages, deductions, and benefits.
Research and resolve discrepancies in payroll and timekeeping records.
Understand and promote the mission, vision, and values of Chapa-De both in the workplace and in the community.
Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including HIPAA, sexual harassment, Scope of Practice, Accreditation Standards, OSHA etc.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years payroll administrator experience or equivalent.
One year experience in employee benefits coordination or equivalent.
Demonstrated understanding of Federal and State payroll tax laws, and payroll best practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including strong Excel skills.
Experience with UKG Ready or similar HRIS.
Experience with electronic timekeeping systems.
Must be self-motivated with the ability to perform complex assignments independently.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain high level of confidentiality required.
Able to interact effectively with all levels of management and peers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree in accounting or finance.
CPP certification is highly desirable.
Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in performing payroll and benefits duties and functions.
