Grand Hyatt at SFO is a luxury hotel located at San Francisco International Airport, offering elevated dining and event experiences with an uncompromising commitment to quality, cleanliness, and guest care. Our culinary and operations teams work together to deliver exceptional service, safe food handling, and flawless execution across restaurants, bars, banquet events, and in-room dining.
The Stewarding Supervisor leads daily stewarding operations to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient back-of-house environment. This role supervises dishwashing and kitchen sanitation teams, supports culinary and banquet operations, maintains cleanliness and chemical/safety compliance, and helps manage inventory and equipment to ensure continuous service readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Stewarding Operations
- Supervise daily dishwashing and kitchen sanitation operations for outlets, banquet kitchens, and events.
- Ensure dishware, glassware, flatware, cookware, and kitchen tools are cleaned, sanitized, and available to support service levels.
- Coordinate stewarding staffing and task assignments to align with meal periods, banquets, and business volume.
- Perform hands-on support during peak periods (dish machine, pot wash, garbage/recycling runs, banquet resets).
Sanitation, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all stewarding areas meet Hyatt cleanliness standards and comply with local health department regulations.
- Maintain proper use, storage, labeling, and dilution of cleaning chemicals; ensure SDS/chemical safety protocols are followed.
- Monitor and enforce safe work practices (PPE, slip/fall prevention, lifting techniques, machine safety).
- Conduct routine cleaning schedules (deep cleaning, hoods/vents coordination, floor drains, walls, mats, trash/compactor areas).
Leadership & Training
- Train, coach, and supervise stewarding colleagues on procedures, equipment operation, and safety standards.
- Assist with onboarding and ongoing performance support; reinforce accountability and teamwork.
- Communicate daily priorities with Culinary and F&B leaders and ensure smooth shift handoffs.
Inventory, Equipment & Maintenance
- Monitor par levels and organize storage for dishware, cleaning supplies, and stewarding tools.
- Report equipment issues promptly (dish machines, glass washers, pot sinks, compactors) and coordinate with Engineering for repairs.
- Help track breakage and loss; support strategies to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
Support to Culinary, Outlets & Banquets
- Partner with Culinary and Banquets to support set-ups, breakdowns, and back-of-house event readiness.
- Maintain cleanliness standards for kitchen production areas and receiving/storage areas, as assigned.
- Help ensure timely delivery and staging of clean items for service teams.
This is an hourly position with a compensation of $30.58 per hour.

Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years of stewarding/dishwashing experience with leadership or supervisory responsibilities (or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of sanitation standards and safe chemical handling.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hotel or high-volume restaurant/banquet experience.
- Prior experience supporting large events and banquet operations.
- Food safety certification familiarity (e.g., ServSafe principles; certification requirements vary by role/property).
